Covid-19: Lagos Residents Lament Over Relief Packages

As Lagos state hits over a 100 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus disease, and the National Lockdown activated by President Buhari, enters week 2, the Lagos State government led by Gov. Babajide Sanwo-olu has commenced distribution of relief packages across the state.

The government has targeted an initial 200,000 families for distribution of the relief package, aimed to alleviate the hardship brought to these families as a result of the Lockdown.

However, some residents of the state, at Olayinka Olugoke Street, Egbe-Idimu LGA, has aired their dissatisfaction over the content of the state’s relief package which they deemed insufficient. According to residents, the package contains food items such as: rice, beans, garri, 2 sachets of tomatoes, bread, etc. see video for details.

The state government has made it public that this is only an initial intervention, and that the government would do everything it can to help alleviate the hardship of the people of lagos state.
