Edo Doctor, 2 Lagos Nurses Tests Positive for Covid-19

The COVID 19 pandemic in Nigeria is rising with over 200 confirmed coronavirus cases so far and currently health workers are also getting infected.

Reports from the Irua Specialist Teaching Hospital, ISTH, Edo State reveals that One of the Resident doctors (name withheld), was confirmed positive for the Covid-19 virus and he is currently in Isolation and stable while Contact tracing is ongoing. This report was confirmed by the President of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Dr. Aliyu Sokomba.

At the same time, in Lagos, not so far, 3 LUTH Nurses and several other doctors are currently in Isolation after coming in contact with a Covid-19 case who gave false travel history, only to die few hours later after testing positive for the Virus.

According to Fisayo Soyombo, two nurses working at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Yaba, Lagos, have tested +ve to COVID-19.

A good number of these cases are as a result of patients hiding their recent travel history to cover up their being labelled a suspected case of Covid-19. Once again we’d repeat that Testing Positive for Coronavirus is not a death Sentence.
